Ahura Z. writes music in a variety of genres and under a variety of pseudonyms under his own record label, unicorn 1 records (www.unicorn1records.com). all his music is created, performed, recorded and produced by him. all vocals in his music are his own and his wife's. no vox or sampled backgrounds are used.
drawing from his diverse cultural background he frequently incorporates a variety of sounds, instruments and musical styles into his work. one can often detect cultural influences such as celtic, asian, polynesian, latin, african and native american in much of his music.
some of ahura z's favorite types of music to create are:
- large-scale, epic sounding cinematic pieces. though almost entirely electronically produced, some of his cinematic-type pieces have been mistaken for live orchestra.
- world beat and cultural crossover (musical and lyrical), especially asian, celtic, polynesian and native american. he has written vocal pieces in japanese, chinese, hawaiian, latin, gaelic, hebrew, spanish as well as some unheard-of languages and has done instrumental pieces that are heavily culturally-influenced as well.
- classical crossover into techno, electronica, hip hop and pop
-new age and meditation music. as a practicing metaphysician and teacher of metaphysics he writes a great deal of custom meditation music for his customers and students, from atmospheric sounds to relaxing musical pieces to spoken meditations and soul travels. he can create just about any kind of meditative piece that is needed.
